The Organisation & the Team:

This role contributes to the Consumer Banking Division’s risk controls standardisation, harmonisation and efficiency to assist the divisional risk profile. This newly formed team is responsible for all risk and control matters within the Business (Line 1), and supporting implementation of solutions to risk and control problems.


The Role Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to ensuring the divisional and business operations and risk management practices align to the frameworks, policies, risk strategy, regulatory obligations, and appetite of the Group.
  • Assist with the oversight of division-wide control testing activities, results and actions / impacts; identify opportunities for enhancement/streamlining.
  • Contribute to the identification of risk in the division by identifying drivers and root causes, as well as supporting plans to address.
  • Assist with mapping and documentation of existing controls and standards.
  • Support the business with Group standards and develop consistent and complementary control environment for priority risk classes.
  • Assist with identification of common controls across lines of business teams that can be standardised /centralised.
  • Provide risk expertise to the business in the identification, assessment, and actioning of risk issues to drive a strong risk culture that helps achieve business objectives.
  • Provide insights and reporting for risk committees and board risk committees.
  • Coach and support the business to build greater risk awareness and capability.
  • Provide inputs to matters of Conduct Risk and Risk in Change.

The Skill Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of operational risk management / advisory experience in Financial Services, preferably in a Line 1 function.
  • Previous experience in audit / professional services / compliance / governance is advantageous.
  • Demonstrable capability of managing risk issues, incidents and controls independently.
  • Strong stakeholder management and business partnering skills.
  • Knowledge of Consumer Banking products is desirable but not essential: mortgages, credit cards, deposits, personal loans, insurance etc.
