Senior Development & Drainage Engineer (Technical)

Civil Engineer – Drainage & Development
Contract: 27 October – 31 December 2025 | $55 per hour + super | Hybrid flexibility

We’re partnering with a leading local government organisation seeking an experienced Civil Engineer (Drainage & Development) to join their Engineering Services team.
This short-term contract offers the opportunity to contribute to essential infrastructure and drainage projects that support safe and sustainable urban development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical advice on drainage and civil engineering development matters.
  • Review and approve development proposals, subdivisions, and engineering plans for compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
  • Manage and improve flood mapping, modelling, and flood level data.
  • Assess and determine legal points of discharge, building over easement applications, and flood-related development conditions.
  • Investigate and resolve drainage issues raised by the community or external stakeholders.
  • Support the implementation of drainage and development engineering policies and strategies.
  • Represent the organisation in meetings and consultations.
About You
  • Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent recognised by Engineers Australia).
  • 5+ years’ experience in civil, drainage, or development engineering—local government experience highly regarded.
  • Strong knowledge of drainage design, flood modelling, and relevant legislation.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Current driver’s licence and registration (or eligibility) as a professional engineer.
