Global brand is seeking a highly motivated 1-3 year medical negligence lawyer or Associate with some proven defendant insurance litigation experience to join a close-knit & collaborative team of 9, working across two specialists in the Melbourne market.
 
Acting for a mix of large insurers, medical practitioners, public & private hospitals & healthcare providers (including allied health professionals), you will have the opportunity to become involved in a broad mix of medical malpractice & healthcare work  including:
  • Defence of medical negligence matters from inception to settlement/trial.
  • Advisory work – including coverage & indemnity advice.
  • The defence of complex & high-value claims involving instructing medical experts and external Counsel.
  • Arbitration, settlement conferences & mediations.
The candidate will possess the following skills:
  • A minimum of 1-3 years' PAE gained within a well-respected defendant insurance law firm. Plaintiff medical negligence will also be considered. 
  • Exposure in another area of insurance such as workers compension or general liability will be considered if defendant only.
  • Ability to autonomously manage & run a busy caseload of complex/high-value files;
  • Strong drafting and reearch skills; and
  • Excellent interpersonally with a clear communication style.
