One of Sydney's top 5 Universities are looking for an Senior Communication Specialist to join their team on a 6 Month contract.

The Senior Communications Specialist has oversight of Program communications channels, and development and implementation of audience-driven channel strategies to enable effective internal communications across the University (including by University leaders).

The position is accountable for the successful development, implementation and review of internal communications strategies, frameworks, and initiatives to support staff communications and engagement objectives, involving a significant high-level and creative approach to channel evolution.

Working under guidelines established as part of the Academic Excellence Program, the role is responsible for the development and implementation of communications strategies for University staff and any relevant key stakeholders.

Key accountabilities

• Lead the development and analysis of insights into staff audiences and stakeholders to guide campaigns, tactics, and decision-makingacross the internal communications team in support of University strategic objectives.
• Lead the development and maintenance, and encourage the use of effective communications tools and guidance that facilitate communication by leaders and managers across the University, in support of the University’s strategic goals.
• Identify and appropriately manage responses to highly sensitive issues that may negatively impact staff and/or the University’s reputation. Liaise with senior stakeholders to develop messaging.
• Lead the development and implementation of methodologies for tracking and measuring the impact and effectiveness of staff communications. Input into the preparation of reports and make recommendations for improvements.
• Contribute high-quality audience-driven messaging and content to support the University’s strategic priorities, including building and implementing communications plans for key projects.
• Develop strong working relationship with senior stakeholders across the University to provide strategic communications advice and input.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues in Marketing and Communications to ensure that strategic goals are achieved.
• Stay abreast of developments in communications technologies and methodologies, trends in internal communications and industry bestpractice.
• Develop effective and supportive relationship with staff at all levels across the University and maintain a customer-focussed approach in the delivery of services.
• Performs work activities relevant to the role’s key accountabilities as approved by the Manager and commensurate to the role’s classification level.

• Experience in developing methodologies and systems to enable and improve internal communications by leaders and managers.
• Experience leading and mentoring other staff to achieve high standards of client service delivery and teamwork.
• Experience working in a complex multi-faceted organisation.
• Significant experience in a senior role providing strategic communications advice and support in a complex multi-faceted environment, working across a range of channels and environments.
• Significant experience writing and editing targeted communications to meet strategic objectives and create audience advocacy.
