Team Leader – Wood Machining

Maxima has been engaged to recruit a Team Leader – Wood Machining for a contemporary furniture manufacturing company based in the Western suburbs.

About the Role

This is a temp to permanent position, overseeing the manufacturing of Wood-Based products and production. You will be involved in Departmental Planning. You will be a hands-on Team Leader and will be accountable for the quality of all finished goods complying to the specifications.

Duties include:

Assist with development of wood-based furniture and components.
Organizing daily work ready for processing on machines.
Perform day to day maintenance of equipment and tools.
Maintain agreed schedules and the efficient flow of materials and the handling of products and processes.
Lead a safe and tidy workforce.
Assist with the training and inductions of employees.
Maintain the already good morale within the workplace.
Promote multi skilling of the work team.

About you

You are a team player with great leadership skills. Must have a positive attitude and be able to manage your own and the team’s workloads.

You also have the following knowledge, skills, and experience:

CNC Wood Machining (highly Desirable)
Edge banding experience (highly Desirable)
Experience in Cabinet Making, Commercial fit outs, Shop Fitting and Kitchen installations (Advantage).
Effective communication skills to collaborate with designers, engineers, and production personnel.
Knowledge of Quality Control and assurance processes
Basic project management skills and execute experience in building prototypes of furniture designs for testing and evaluation.
