Primary Function/Primary Goals/Objectives:
  • Develops and implements company and regulatory quality standards in Laboratory facility. 
  • Knowledgeable of industry and governmental regulations affecting product quality. Develops, implements, revises and maintains quality standards, tools and methods for processing materials into finished products.
  • Responsible for delivering effective GLP and hygiene training and awareness program.
  • Designs or specifies inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment.                                 
  • Analyzes production limitations and standards.                                                 
  • Recommends revision of specifications when indicated.                                                           
  • Formulates or assists in formulating quality control policies and procedures.                          
  • Drives quality improvement and cost reduction using Six Sigma or Lean methodology.           
  • Manage and provide leadership for the implementation, maintenance and improvement of the laboratory quality management system and to identify the occurrence of departure from the quality management system and initiate actions to prevent or minimize such departures.
  • Manages and provide leadership to establishes processes and standards for quality team so as to provide efficient support to plant operations.
  • Responsible for developing and driving the quality metrics.
  • Provide leadership and direction in quality, food safety and compliance to Abbott Nutrition Policies and Procedures.
  • Drive and implement continuous improvements to enhance quality and food safety in our products in a cost effective manner.
  • Manages the hiring, staffing and maintenance of a diverse and effective workforce.              
  • Responsible for career development/planning, performance and pay discussions of team.
  • Provides managerial leadership, coaching/feedback and development for direct reports and business partners.
  • Direct the efforts of others in the achievement of the strategic and operational objectives of the group.     
 
Major Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that the day-to-day activities of the Analytical and Microbiology Laboratories are carried out in a safe and productive manner, adhering to GMP/GLP standards at all times. This includes but not limited to batch release, environmental monitoring, laboratory investigation, inventory management, calibration and maintenance program, etc.
  • Responsible for release all products within the agreed time scale allowed for analysis.
  • Develops and applies specialized knowledge within own discipline. Builds deeper understanding of processes, procedures, customers and organization.
  • Manage all testing activities associated with batch release and environmental monitoring.
  • Be an Approved Signatory to issue SAC endorsed report, to take responsibility for the validity and ensure adequacy of test result, design quality control programmes, set action criteria and take corrective action when required.
  • Provide advice and guidance in technical matters, opinion and interpretation based on results. and identify and resolve technical related problem.
  • Perform technical competency assessment for trainee.
  • Assumes responsibility to improve service, efficiency and quality of work.  Contributes to area by ensuring quality of output.  Establishes working relationships with others outside area of expertise. 
  • Effectively collaborate across all operational and technical teams to assure product conformance and efficacy requirements are fulfilled.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects to improve efficiency and cost for the plant.
  • Manages a staff of nonexempt and professional level team members or manages a team through lower-level supervisors.
  • Establishes and influences operating policies. Work is guided by general policies and management guidance.
  • Interprets and executes policies that directly affect work activities. May contribute to functional strategy within location.
  • Sets project timeframes and priorities based on project objectives and ongoing assignments.
  • Provides guidance and technical advice and becomes actively involved as required.
  • Analyzes quantitative, qualitative and trend data.
  • Anticipates operational issues and develops preventative measures. Solves problems impacting the area in a systematic and clear manner that can be understood by subordinates and colleagues.
  • Manages area of responsible related budget.
  • Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
 
Skills/Experience Requirements:
  • 6 to 10 years of related experience and 5 to 8 years in management situation.
  • High level of competence in advance laboratory instrumentation, such as HPLC, GC, ICP, FTIR, NIR, etc. and knowledge of milk powder processing and laboratory management system.  
  • Strong communication, problem solving, laboratory investigation and report writing skills.
  • Strong leadership skills in bringing the best out of people, managing work teams and fostering teamwork within the department. 
  • Strong strategic Planning/ Thinking, decisive judgement and Implementation skills.
