Apply: In-House Legal Counsel - Claims Team Leader

A unique opportunity has arisen for a Legal Counsel with expertise in property, mortgage or insurance law. Reporting to the COO, you will be responsible for:
  • Providing legal services to internal stakeholders across the business including Operations, Group Legal, Risk & Compliance & Product Development, with a particular focus on claims management.
  • Liaising closely with the underwriting team, as well as regular monitoring & reporting of claims.
  • Understanding & interpreting insurance products & suggesting improvements to the same.
  • Manage & lead a team of claims handlers & to ensure compliance with industry standards, policies & procedures & frameworks.
  • Escalating complaints to AFCA where necessary.
Key Requirements:
 You will possess:
  • A minimum of 2-5 years’ expertise in claims handling with a NSW unrestricted practising certificate in the areas of either property/conveyancing, mortgage or insurance claims.
  • Strong attention to detail, organisational and drafting skills.
  • Results orientated with demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced, high pressure environment.
  • Strong interpersonally with an ability to build effective relationships with internal stakeholders whilst managing a team of juniors.
