Apply: Senior Forensic Accountant, Life Claims Remediation

Our client is a leading insurance group with premium brand, enviable working culture including Agile workplace, flexible working hours and opportunity to work from home one day per week.  

They are currently looking for an experienced candidate with a forensic accounting, actuarial or data analysis background for a lead position on the claims stream of the program.  Reporting into the Project Manager and directing the work of a number of SME's, forensic accountants and SME's you will focus specifically on:

• Assist claims subject matter experts through data analysis and develop calculation models for calculation of claim entitlements.
• Support claims subject matter experts in responding to internal and/or external queries relating to calculations
• Data analysis for claims management and claims analytics initiative
• Identify trends in claim behaviour
• Extract, document and communicate actionable insights to stakeholders
• Ability to identify the key analytical questions and frame the problem that we are attempting to solve in a clear business context
• Strong motivation in wanting to understand the root cause of a problem
• Ability to specify an analytical solution to the problem and establish the best approach and detailed methodology for solving the problem
• Conceptual modelling – able to translate models to machine representation
• Statistical analysis – able to understand and work around possible limitations in models
• Predictive modelling – able to leverage available data and predictive modelling techniques, to predict future outcomes / able to proactively recommend the next best action based on future predictions
• Data mining – able to uncover or discover previously unknown insights from the available source data

This is a multi year, multiphase program and although initially will be a 12 month contract is highly likely to roll over for at least another 12 months.

Required skills and experience:

• Tertiary degree and professional qualifications in either of the following: accounting, finance, actuarial, statistics, mathematics, economics, econometrics or equivalent in addition to excellent analytical and problem solving skills.\
• Strong research, analytical and modelling experience, strong experience in data modelling, data mining and data manipulation and experience / training 
• Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner.
• Flexible analytical approach that allows for results at varying levels of precision.
• Solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches.
• Solid understanding of programming logic and various paradigms.
• Deliver presentations on data analysis 
• Excel and VBA advanced skills
• Knowledge of life insurance, specifically income protection
• Knowledge of how Case Managers assess claims
• Ability to check Case Managers calculations
• Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner
• Experience working with Big Data technologies and distributed computing tools SQL
• Experience building robust dashboards and web applications
