Apply: VP, Financial Accounting - Financial Markets

Our client is a cutting edge global financial markets group with a fast paced, entrepreneurial working environment. They are going through a significant period of growth in their Australian business and as such require a VP level Financial Accounting Manager to join the business. Reporting to the Regional CFO and with dotted line to the Australian MD this will be a highly autonomous role which will allow you to build out the accounting function, finance processes, team and systems as well as driving change initiatives.  It will offer a very high level of exposure (APAC COO, MD's, Global CFO etc) and suit an ambitious, high calibre individual looking for a fast paced, high growth environment.

Key Deliverables will include:

• Oversee and manage the finance function of the group’s Australian based entities
• Responsibility for oversight and delivery of all finance activities including corporate accounting, financial accounting, regulatory reporting, payroll, accounts payable, tax
• Oversee the preparation of financial statements and timely completion of annual financial audit and statutory/regulatory/ tax filings
• Maintaining a close working relationship with external providers such as outsourced accounting firm, auditors, banks, payroll agent, tax advisors and other vendors and continually monitoring the quality and timeliness of their service delivery
• Monitoring cash flow forecast and liquidity standing of the Australian operations
• Work closely with local and regional management to identify risk areas and ensure timely escalation and remediation where appropriate
• Potential cross coverage of regional accounting work with the regional finance team
• Identify process improvements opportunities and collaborate with regional and global teams to streamline and automate processes

Required skills and experience:

• CA/CPA qualified with 7- 10 years of post qualified accounting experience at a finance manager/senior manager level 
• Significant experience within Investment Management, Financial Markets or Broker Dealer environment
• Regulatory reporting experience and familiar with ASIC/ASX regulations, and AFSL requirements
• Familiarity with AASB and IFRS standards
• Experience with payroll and accounts payable process (overseeing)
• Experience dealing with stakeholders at the highest levels in an organisation
• Strong systems skills including advanced excel and experience with major GLs (Oracle, Peoplesoft etc)
• Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills, high energy level, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work autonomously with limited on the ground support
• Demonstrated analytical skills and impeccable integrity
• An adaptive, flexible style with the ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
