About the role:
 
Working for a leading insurer and reporting into the Indirect Tax Manager, this newly created Indirect Tax Specialist role is for an initial 12 month Fixed Term Contract and can be based in Sydney or Melbourne.
 
Working alongside a team of 6 tax professionals, you will ensure compliance with the organisations’ indirect tax obligations through the provision of advice to business operations, meeting tax compliance requirements and engaging effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
 
 
Responsibilities:
 
In this advisory role, using your skills and knowledge, you will engage effectively with external stakeholders so that the organisation maintains its strong reputation with Government Taxation bodies and manage audits and reviews. You will also provide advice and assistance to operating businesses on integration projects and M&A transactions. You will participate in developing a tax risk management framework as it applies to indirect taxation including utilising data analytic techniques to proactively identify and remediate areas of risk as well as influence stakeholders within Risk and Compliance, Internal Audit and the Australian business. 


 
Required skills and experience:
 

• Taxation experience gained either in accounting or legal specialising in GST and if possible, other indirect taxation such as stamp duty, payroll tax and land tax
• Ideally industry experience in GST and indirect taxation in general insurance or financial services
• Undergraduate degree in commerce or law
• Experience with and ability to undertake data analytics (preferred)
