Our client a Leading NSW Government Department are looking for a Board Secretary to join their team in Sydney CBD. (combination of working from home)
The initial contract is for 6 months but highly likely to be ongoing. 

Primary purpose of the role
The primary purpose of the role is to provide governance and administrative advice and support to the Chair and Directors of the Government Organisation. The role is responsible for the efficient administration of the Board, supporting the implementation of its decision-making and supporting the General Counsel with the Board’s compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

Key accountabilities
  • Provide or source independent advice and support to the Board, and undertake specific projects as requested by the Chair to assist in the planning and execution of Board’s functions
  • Act as a key liaison and channel for communication between the Client and the Board to manage the effective relationships between them and ensure the effective flow of information between key stakeholders
  • Work closely with the General Counsel and Chief Executive as required to ensure effective Board operations, corporate governance functions, and reporting requirements are met
  • Monitor and assist in the implementation of strategies and support the Board’s strategic direction and focus to ensure alignment in all decision-making
  • Keeping board meetings clear, cohesive and concise through well–prepared board information.
  • Escalate issues, keep informed, advise and receive instructions
Essential Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in corporate law, finance or relevant discipline and demonstrated relevant professional experience
  • Detailed knowledge of public sector enabling legislation and other legislation and government policies that affect the public sector body and the Board
