This role sits within a Mainframe Infrastructure Services environment and is responsible for leading and supporting a large and complex mainframe platform. The position focuses on ensuring stability, performance, resilience, and optimisation of Db2 systems, while contributing to technical design, maintenance, and ongoing improvements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and maintain Db2 13 for z/OS environments
  • Manage Db2 catalog, directory, subsystem, and application parameters
  • Oversee backup and recovery processes for catalog, directory, and tool databases
  • Contribute to mainframe technical solution design and operational readiness
  • Monitor and analyse system performance and key Db2 metrics
  • Provide expert troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and technical consultation
  • Work collaboratively within a specialist mainframe team
Core Technical Requirements
  • Db2 13 for z/OS system support experience
  • Job scheduling exposure – TWS (OPC), ESP
  • Advanced knowledge of IBM tooling:
  • Optim Archive
  • Omegamon
  • Db2 Performance Expert
  • SMP/E
  • z/OSMF
Experience with BMC tooling such as:
  • Apptune
  • Change Manager
  • Catalog Manager
  • Recovery Manager
  • Reorg
  • XBM
  • Strong understanding of SYSPLEX, Data Sharing, and DDF configurations
