Our client is a leading international shipping company seeking an ambitious senior analyst to join their expanding research division here in Singapore. You will be assisting the front office chartering teams and shipping teams with quality industry analysis with a particular focus on the thermal coal space.  The incumbent should be well trained in collating data in the dry bulk markets and coal industry and then be able to communicate this evidence by highlighting statistical patterns that you see with in the markets in order to foresee potential opportunities. The opening would be ideal for someone with a strong mathematical or statistical background and has experience working in a trading commodities environment. Ideally, they would be looking for someone who has a background in trading the physical coal and paper markets and interested in leading this research division.

Requirements:

• At least 10+ years of experience in areas of fundamental research and trading or directional trading – mainly in coal.
• Professional qualifications in mathematics or statistics.
• Has the ability to formulate mathematical models in relations to the commodity markets.
• Strong research background and ability to present data clearly and concisely.
• Excellent communication & stakeholder management skills.
• Strong Python or coding skills.
• Open and willing to be based in Singapore.
