Data Engineer - AWS

• 12 months contract with potential extension

Our client is looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join a large-scale enterprise transformation program, focusing on modernising information systems and enhancing data workflows. This position will suit someone with extensive experience in data migration, cloud-based integration, and automation using tools such as AWS, Python, SQL, and scripting languages like Bash or PowerShell.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain scalable data migration pipelines using AWS, SQL, and Python.
• Conduct advanced data analysis to troubleshoot and resolve migration or integration issues.
• Develop ETL/ELT processes to support business and financial data transformation.
• Automate tasks using Bash and/or PowerShell for improved efficiency and reliability.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure data integrity, quality, and reporting accuracy.

 
Skills & Requirements

• Strong experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role, with a focus on large data migrations.
• Strong proficiency in AWS services, Python, SQL, and modern ETL/ELT tools.
• Proven experience analysing and resolving complex data integration issues.
• Skilled in scripting (Bash and/or PowerShell) for automation and optimisation.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills in cross-functional environments.

 
Desirable (Bonus) Skills:

• Exposure to TechnologyOne DSL or Visual Basic (used in legacy system frameworks).
• Experience working in agile, matrixed, or transformation-driven projects.
• Background in developing or supporting enterprise reporting tools.
• Knowledge of data governance, audit, or reconciliation practices.
