This role will lead the INstock data world as well as the quality processes that are needed which underpin the INstock range of products. In addition, you will lead the development of advanced products which are analytically driven using a range of models and technologies. Key to being successful in this role is a hands-on approach giving you data intimacy and a clear perspective of innovative products which produce business value for our customers.
Role and responsibilities:
Data Collection
– understanding our end to end global data collection process and the architectures that enable it. You will represent the INstock product team to a range of internal and external providers who operate and run the platform to provide us with
Data Transformation
– understanding the transformation rulesets that process the data through a series of refinement stages. You will be responsible for the process whereby new rules are created, either by you or your team (local & offshore), tested, and applied to production
Data Classification
– understanding the classification rulesets that are applied to ensure the data adheres to our taxonomy which enables a retailer-to-retailer comparison to be applied. You will be responsible for ensuring the maintenance of the taxonomy in line with what is happening in the market place, taking on board WGSN’s own Trend business which forecasts elements in the ‘near future’ (2+ years). You will be responsible for the process whereby new rules are created, either by you or your team (local & offshore), tested, and applied to production data.
Data Quality
– understand and own the end to end data quality process, which includes the manual and automated You will continue to seek efficiencies in this process to ensure high quality data is able to be presented to our range of data products. You will be responsible for the process whereby new rules are created, either by you or your team (local & offshore), tested, and applied to production data.
Analytic driven products
– the identification and creation of innovative data driven analytic products which meet customer needs. These range from enabling clients to access the raw data sources, through to a variety of BI reports and generation of data for such reports. Data Presentation/Visualisation
– responsible for investigating, recommending and selecting our data presentation/visualisation products (internal/external consumption) and integration into our INstock range of
Project Planning and Management
– Facilitate the definition of project scope by providing support to the Head of Product and the Product Manager in defining epics, stories and acceptance criteria for product features and functions. Support the Delivery Manager to execute new items of scope within/across teams, including testing outputs where
Required skills:
Solid understanding of data analysis and analytics, with 7+ years of hands on experience, with a variety of data driven
Deep knowledge of software development life cycle models as well as knowledge of both Agile and traditional waterfall project management principles and practices
A proven track record of successfully implementing analytic environments
Business intelligence and Big data technology certifications including Hadoop, Spark, Machine Learning
Ability to provide leadership to business analysts, developers and collaborate with customers and develop strategies and solutions of high business value
MSc or higher in maths/statistics/machine learning/data science or equivalent experience is required
Expert SQL and Java/Scala/Python programming skills
Preferred skills:
Proven ability to lead data driven projects and ensure objectives, goals, and commitments are met
Solid understanding of and demonstrated experience in using appropriate tools:
Excellent oral and written communications skills and experience interacting with both business and IT individuals at all levels including the executive level
Creative approach to problem-solving with the ability to focus on details while maintaining the “big picture” view
Strong attention to detail with a thorough and process-orientated approach
Hands on experience with big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark,Elastic Search, Solr, Java, Pig, Map Reduce)
