Our client is one of Australia's leading insurance companies. They are a household name, an employer of choice and currently very much in growth mode. Due to a large integration project they require a Finance Business Analyst with a financial accounting background to join their financial accounting team in a 100% project focused role. 

Reporting into the Senior Finance Manager you will act as a key subject matter expert supporting the financial control team. Utilising your financial accounting, BA and project skills you will focus on a number of key deliverables:

• Providing key financial insights to business teams, reinsurance, actuarial and tax
• Redesign of processes and controls to ensure best practice and adherence to statutory requirements and business goals
• Assurance of of the completeness and accuracy of the GL, delivering through others in the team ensuring all deadlines are met
• Manage the month end General ledger close process, coordinate all stakeholders,  ensure a smooth and efficient month end close; identify and mitigate risks to delivery
• Have a deep understanding of the group, provide financial analysis, advice and insights to Senior Finance Manager to ensure a complete and accurate balance sheet position
• Provide decision support to the business, offering insights to assist in sound decision making
• Identify problems related to business activity; develop, influence adoption of, and manage the implementation of, appropriate solutions, collaborating as required to deliver
• Undertake General Ledger control activities to ensure ledger integrity (such as review and approval of monthly journals)
• Continuously assess for opportunities to make recommendations for improvement in line with best practice, statutory requirements and business goals. 
• Continuously re-assess identified risks and the emergence of new risks, and provide advice to Senior Finance Manager on how to mitigate these risks
• Facilitate delivery of outcomes through own and other teams, as required
• Provide oversight of work performed by more junior members in the team, provide ongoing coaching and training

You will be a qualified CA/CPA with strong track record in financial accounting (ideally within the insurance or banking industry) and exposure to business analysis or process improvement. You will be an excellent communicator with coaching and leadership ability and great stakeholder management skills.  Previous track record in designing processes within financial accounting would be regarded highly
