About the role
 
Working for a leading Financial Services organisation, the Senior Indirect Tax Adviser, will form part of a close-knit, high performing team delivering high quality technical advice and managing the Australian reporting obligations for GST and Insurance Duty of the Group.
 
 
Responsibilities
  • Contribute to preparation of material position papers for review and sign off by the Manager – GST or Head of Tax. Contribution to Board papers on indirect tax issues as required. Contribute to internal reporting on tax matters, tax paid and detail of tax positions.
  • Champion process improvement and change management initiatives, including a focus on improving the use of existing or proposed tax technologies.
  • Adhere to Suncorp Group tax risk appetite statement and tax governance standards. Operationalise, implement and enhance the Group tax internal control structure.
  • Grow and maintain strategic business relationships across the group and with advisers, ATO and revenue and industry bodies.
  • Assist the GST Manager to operationalise an internal 4 year rolling audit, to enable proactive identification and rectification of GST and insurance duty risks and opportunities
  • Provide training and guidance to Tax Advisors in technical, research and advice preparation skills.
 
Required skills and experience:
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or Law (or similar) - Mandatory
  • CA or CPA qualified or Masters of Taxation – Desired
  • 5+ Years experience in corporate tax consulting either within a large corporate or big 4 firm
  • Demonstrated tax consulting and advice experience
  • Intermediate to advanced user of Microsoft Office or equivalent
