HMH is looking to strengthen its Tax Department and we are searching for a skilled and experienced person who holds great knowledge within the tax area.

The HMH Tax Department is a global function led by the Global Head of Tax, and the team works both cross-functionally in the group and cross-border. The Tax Department has an advisory function and oversee the tax compliance, while also focusing on managing tax efficiently and within the tax law in the jurisdictions where HMH operates. As a member in this team, you will be involved in both international and international tax complexities and gain great knowledge about both the operations and management of a big international group.

The new team member will report to and work closely together with the HMH Global Head of Tax, located in Kristiansand, Norway.

Who are you, and what will you be doing?
You are a tax professional that would like to work with national and international tax in a frontrunning global company. As an HMH Tax Manager you will be part of a team of competent tax professionals, located both in Norway and the US. The Tax Department is an integrated team that work together on assisting management and the operational departments worldwide. As a team member you will take part in the day-to-day activities in the Tax Department that may include:

• Provide corporate tax advice to ensure tax-efficient operations throughout HMH, relating to tenders, ongoing projects, after-market operations, and M&A activities. This includes analysis of corporate tax implications, advise on contract structure, and engage external advisors when needed.
• Transfer Pricing – maintain policies/methodology, manage intercompany agreements and draft Transfer Pricing documentation.
• Manage tax compliance process
• Train commercial, contracting, finance and legal resources in HMH on tax complexities, to achieve tax efficient, compliant, and effective risk management.
• Assist and manage local HMH entities with tax audits, tax controversies and tax disputes.
• Advice on a tax-efficient legal structure in the group
• Identify proactive solutions that will eliminate or mitigate tax risks in the group.
• Review and advise on tax relevant parts of the Terms & Conditions in contracts.
• Assist on indirect tax complexities
• Assist and advise on tax calculations and tax returns.

Key competencies and skills:

• Master of Law or equal or relevant Finance background with specialization in tax
• At least 3+ years of relevant experience, including advising in international taxation
• Ability to solve complex and sensitive matters
• Business/industry experience is an advantage, but not a requirement
• Ability to work multidisciplinary with a commercial mindset, and provide independent advice to senior level management on highly technical and complex matters
• Takes initiative, acts with confidence and works under own direction
• Sets high quality standards, and works with professional integrity in an efficient, systematic, methodical, and orderly way.
• Your work capacity needs to include being flexible, creative, engaged and solution oriented
• Good communication skills, both in Norwegian and in English (fluent)

Workplace:

The preferred location for the role is Kristiansand, Norway, but if the right candidate is in Stavanger, we would rather have the right candidate.
