Our client is a major Australian Law firm with a strong reputation nationally.  A need has arisen for a 2-3 year Risk & Compliance Advisor/Officer to assist the Head of Risk & Compliance in Melbourne.

As a newly created position, you will be involved in assisting the Head of Risk & Compliance to implement& establish the firm’s risk & compliance framework/strategy whilst ensuring continued compliance with existing policies & procedures. You will be heavily involved in a range of tasks including but not limited to:
  • Supporting the Head of Risk & Compliance with the development & implementation of the firm’s Risk Management portfolio.
  • Ensuring both firm and employee (continued) compliance with internal policies & procedures as well as with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Assist with the implementation of projects & making recommendations for systematic changes and initiatives;
  • Ensuring that client information is protected & remains confidential in accordance with privacy legislation.
  • Assessment of existing policies & procedures and identifying, monitoring & reporting material risks; in addition to
  • liaising with auditors to develop audit & remediation plans.
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a compliance role either as an officer, advisor or administrator - preferably within a professional services (legal/accounting/auditing) or a financial services (insurance) organisation.
  • Understanding of a law firm environment/Partnership model is advantageous.
  • Basic knowledge or understanding of the applicability of ISO: 31000 or ISO: 27005 would be highly regarded but is not a pre-requisite.
  • Strong attention to detail with an analytical mind.
  • Systematic approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities at any one time.
  • Collaborate, hands-on approach with a “can-do” attitude.
